Isabella Perez, an incoming junior at Northwest Florida Collegiate High School, has a long history of involvement with the FWB Chamber and our members. Isabella excelled in our very first Young Entrepreneurs Academy back in 2013 - and has gone on to do more exciting things since then.
This year, she participated in a regional ACT-SO competition in April at NWF State College - and she won the Gold Medal in the vocal-classical category.
She's now going on to represent our area in the National ACT-SO competition in Baltimore from July 20 - 24th.
WHAT is ACT-SO? It's a program of the NAACP, and it stands for Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics. It includes competitions in 32 categories in STEM, humanities, business, performing, visual and culinary arts. The competition is open to all students in grades 9 through 12.
On June 17, Mr. Arthur Blakely, NAACP Branch #5633 ACT-SO Director, is hosting a banquet at which all of the local gold medal winners will perform. The banquet is a fundraiser to help pay for the local winners' trips to Baltimore.
