An Evening with Spine Expert Dr. Kornelius Poelstra

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast (SHHEC) will host an “Evening with the Expert” event featuring the newest technology in spine health and robotic spinal surgery on Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m. at The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach. Guest speaker Dr. Kornelis Poelstra, a board-certified, world renowned spine surgeon will lead the presentation.

Attendees will learn about the latest advancements in spine surgery including the first ever Mazor X lateral procedure performed at SHHEC, one of only three hospitals in the nation with the most advanced robotic guidance system for spine surgery available today. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the team from The Spine Center of Excellence at SHHEC.

Poelstra, founder of the hospital’s Spine Center, is the first surgeon in the world to reach the milestone of 200 patient procedures using the newly launched Mazor X Surgical Assurance platform and has accomplished more than 400 robotic-assisted surgery cases at Sacred Heart since 2014 with greater than 99.8% accuracy, redefining the standard of spinal surgery.

The Spine Center program at Sacred Heart features a multidisciplinary team of board certified orthopedic spine surgeons, nurses, social workers, and physical and occupational therapists who offer each patient a highly individualized treatment plan to help patients return to a higher quality of life.
