Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast, in collaboration with, Coastal Vascular & Intervention and Coastal Vein Institute will host a free leg screening for peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and varicose veins on Wednesday, Apr. 19 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to raise awareness for vascular disease and the available treatment options.
Screenings for vascular disease include a limited ultrasound and Ankle Brachial Index (ABI). The screenings are free, quick, painless, and performed by accredited ultrasound technologists.
Coastal Vascular and Interventional is hosting this free screening in order to educate the community about venous and arterial disease, risk factors, prevention, and treatment options. An estimated 25 million people in the United States have varicose veins. In America, 72% of women and 42% of men will experience varicose veins by the time they are in their 60s. Common risk factors for varicose veins and venous reflux include multiple pregnancies, family history, obesity, and standing professions.
The free screenings will be held in Sacred Heart Hospital’s Resource Center, Suite 3 Conference Room. Those interested in attending one of these free screenings should call to register at (850) 424-7911. Space is limited and registration is required.
