“Bodies In Balance: Biological and Behavioral Fall Risks” Topic of Sacred Heart Seminar Mar. 17
MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (Mar. 7, 2017) – Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host a seminar featuring Leslie Moskal, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Mary Kay Cattaneo, Director of Rehabilitation Services for Sacred Heart Hospital, on Friday, Mar. 17 at 11a.m.
Leslie Moskal will speak on the importance of fall prevention and rehabilitation – covering biological risk factors such as muscle weakness, medication side effects that increase the risk of falls, chronic health conditions, vision changes or vision loss, loss in sensation in feet, vestibular issues, postural blood pressure changes and stress and anxiety or fear of falls. Moskal will also discuss behavioral risk factors such as inactivity, risky behaviors, alcohol and drug use and the recommended assistive devices you should use to help reduce the risk of falling.
Mary Kay Cattaneo will share information on the Bodies in Balance Fall Prevention Program available at Sacred Heart and our Wellness Program offering aquatic, strengthening and balance classes offered at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation at Somerby Assisted Living in Santa Rosa Beach. Free balance assessments will be provided after the seminar.
