Tibetan Monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery: Mystical Arts of Tibet - Mandala Sand Painting

The Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery present a free cultural  & artistic exhibition,  "The Mystical Arts of Tibet: Mandala Sand Painting - the Architecture of Enlightenment" from Tuesday, Nov. 29 to Saturday, Dec. 3. The monks previously appeared in 2013 the Arts Center galleries, but the event will be held this time in the Mainstage lobby for an enhanced viewing experience. View the creation of the circular mandala directly from above, viewing through the circular portal that connects the 1st & 2nd floors of the Arts Center or view from ground level,  for a totally unique experience for this highly visual and interactive exhibition!  The four-day event follows the Buddhist ritual of preparation, creation, and ultimate destruction and return to nature of an intricate work of art in sand. Magnificent tantric Buddhist mandala sand paintings are created grain by grain to generate energies for global healing. The Washington Post described the event as "...
